The Carthusian order buys the former Augustian abbey in Ittingen and sets up a monastery.
1848–1977
The monastery already changes ownership for the first time in 1856; since 1867, the Fehr family has run it over several generations as an agricultural business. The entire monastic facilities remain fundamentally preserved.
from 1977
The Ittingen Charterhouse Foundation takes over the monastery from the Fehr family, repairs and renovates the Charterhouse comprehensively and uses it for new purposes. Monastery areas are made accessible to the public for the first time; from 1983, some of the rooms house the Ittingen Museum.
