The historical buildings of the charterhouse form an environment in which the discourse about art becomes one of rare intensity. As a venue for exceptional exhibitions, the museum has made a name for itself far beyond the region.
The collection
The heart of the exhibition is a unique group of works by Adolf Dietrich (1877-1957). The pictures by this Thurgau artist are today known and appreciated far beyond the boundaries of Thurgau and Switzerland.
Around this core element, an impressive collection of naïve art has developed in the past few years and this includes virtually all important representatives of this genre: Camille Bombois, André Bauchant, Louis Vivin, Emeric Fejes, Erich Boedecker are some of the most renowned names in this unique collection.
In addition, groups of works by Helen Dahm, Hans Brühlmann, Carl Roesch and Ernst Kreidolf give an insight into the regional artistic works of the last 100 years.
The exhibitionsThe two monastery cellars with their impressive arches form the atmospheric framework for an exhibition programme of contemporary art of international rank and also of regional positions.
