Ittingen under construction The monastery shop and both museums will stay open to public. From october 2008 until Eastern 2009 the biggest reconstruction project since the foundation of the Ittingen trust will be realised. The gastronomy, the hotel and the hostel, home of the handicapped people, will be completely renovated. The monastery shop and both museums, the Ittingen Museum and the Art Collection Thurgau will stay open to public. There will be a temporary restaurant for visitors. The hotel and catering operations will remain closed during this time. At Holy Thursday, 5th of Mai 2009 the new restaurant, the hotel and the hostel will be officially reopened. The festivities will take place on the weekend of 9th and 10th may, 2009. An open day invites all interested people to come and visit the new premises. About the renovation. |

Ittingen Charterhousewith gold brandy At the Swiss brandy awards in 2007/2008 a total of 60 companies from all over Switzerland took part with 307 products. Not one, but two proprietary brands from the Ittingen Charterhouse were given awards. With the only representative spirits award at national level, conducted by the association ‘Distiswiss’ (association of three professional associations of the Swiss spirits industry, the Swiss fruit brandy, the Swiss brandy burner association and the Swiss spirits association), the jury also assessed two products from Ittingen Charterhouse as excellent. The cleanliness of smell and taste, fruitiness, character and harmony were assessed. The best wine brandy in Switzerland matures in Ittingen Charterhouse. ‘Elegant aroma with well integrated oakwood spice. Harmonious on the palate and rounded, with flattering sweet complex'. That was the jury’s statement. The wine brandy achieved 91 out of 100 points and is a member of the exclusive club of 20 Swiss gold brandies of the year 2007/2008. The Ittingen damson brandy achieved 90 out of a possible 100 points and thus also a gold medal. The awards confirm once again the quality work that is not only done with original products, in this case, it is also done in the orchards and in the processing of the products in Ittingen Charterhouse.
