Ittingen Charterhouse, as a former Charterhouse monastery and as a place with more than 800 years of history, is not only one of the most important cultural monuments in the region. With the complete renovation and reopening in 1983, Ittingen Charterhouse has taken up its place as a cultural centre with a cultural, spiritual and historical aura and today is a meeting place for people of all cultures, nations and religions.

The operating concept reflects this attitude and shapes the day-to-day working life. This is expressed in an attitude that is conscious of history and the responsibility, with a marked cultural awareness. Not only in the maintenance of the constructional inheritance but also in the maintenance of the soul and spirit.

Shaped historically by its monastic past, Ittingen Charterhouse feels closely associated with the monastic values lived at this location. These values such as hospitality, care, education and meeting, reflection, spirituality and closeness to nature are also reflected in the operating concept.

Ittingen Charterhouse today operates a training and seminar centre today beyond the country’s borders with a restaurant with versatile banquet and party rooms for all kinds of private and business events, a farm estate with its own dairy and viticulture, a market garden and the residential home and workshop for psychologically and mentally impaired persons. It houses the Art Museum of the canton of Thurgau, the Ittingen Museum and the tecum, the Protestant meeting and training centre.
