Hop Garden and Cultivation

The hops used to brew Ittinger Original Amber Beer and Ittinger Gold are grown at the Ittingen Charterhouse.
Ittinger Original Amber
This light, easy-drinking amber beer has an original gravity of 13.8% and an alcohol content of 5.6% by volume. It is brewed with light and dark barley malt, wheat malt and aroma hops from Kartause Ittingen. It is only through this finely balanced combination of ingredients that the unique, bottom-fermented Ittinger beer specialty is created.
Ittinger Gold
Since spring 2025, Ittinger Original Amber has had a partner. The new beer is called Ittinger Gold. During its development, the brewers drew inspiration from our beautiful corner of the earth. Ittinger Gold is a lager beer with honey and lemon balm extracts, paying tribute to the monks’ beehives and herb garden.
A New Look
The new design also reflects the connection to Kartause Ittingen. The hexagonal shape corresponds to that of the glass panes in the historic windows of the Inner Cloister, inviting you to open up to these beers and enter the world of Ittinger.
Uncomplicated and Balanced
Both beers are uncomplicated and balanced, yet each offers a subtle and surprising twist in its aroma. Gold has a fruity blend of honey and herbal notes, while Amber has a hoppy aroma.
