In collaboration with Hortiplus, a seed garden has been created with the aim of obtaining seeds from valuable crops, propagating them, and promoting rare and rediscovered varieties.
Rare and now uncommon cultivated plants grow in the seed garden, including rediscovered varieties.
This makes an important contribution to preserving biodiversity while addressing current food and climate trends.
Among the items on display are gluten-free cereal varieties and protein plants that are well-suited to our climate and offer great potential for vegetarian and vegan diets.
Seeds collected from the monastery's seed garden are available to purchase.
Hortiplus promotes the preservation and propagation of established garden plants in Switzerland. It makes an important contribution to biodiversity conservation and helps to spread rare and extinct varieties.
