Ittinger Ranft Route ⋅ 7

Ittinger Ranft - Teich im Wald

Meet Brother Klaus in the secluded Ittinger Ranft above the north wall of the monastery.

The books about Brother Klaus in the monastery library, the relic of the hermit, and the picture in the refectory demonstrate the Kartause Ittingen's deep interest in the hermit of Flüeli Ranft, whom they regarded as a kindred spirit.

The "Ittinger Ranft" is a spiritual place surrounded by nature, with a small pond, a babbling brook and a wild ravine, which brings this connection to life. It is a place to retreat to and immerse yourself in, and a place to encounter Brother Klaus.

Composer and lyricist Reto Friedmann has created an audio track offering a narrative approach to Brother Klaus and his wife Dorothee. It explores the Carthusians' connection to him and examines his relevance today.

The audio track can be accessed via a museum audio guide, a mobile phone (QR code) or online at www.tecum.ch.
