Labyrinth Route ⋅ 6

Winding paths in the thyme maze
Step by step towards the centre
Hidden somewhat behind hedges, the maze lies next to the Baroque garden, forming an idyllic spot in the heart of Kartause Ittingen's gardens. The paths are marked out in the sandy soil with thyme plants. There are over 20 different species here.
A labyrinth is not the same as a maze. A maze leads people astray. However, a labyrinth leads those who enter it unwaveringly towards a goal: the centre. As a wise man once said, “You don't get lost in a labyrinth. In a labyrinth, you find yourself.”
Walking through the labyrinth is a meditative experience. Your gaze turns inward. The physical journey becomes an exploration of your own soul. This is why the direct route is not the best option; detours are also part of the journey. You cannot reach the goal in a straight line, but must approach it slowly, step by step.
