Nussbaumersee

Hike to Lake Nussbaumersee and back.

The monks of Ittingen owned the lake Nussbaumersee, using it to catch fish for their meals.

The nature reserve surrounding these lakes is now considered a landscape of national importance, thanks to its rich history and the valuable habitats it provides for rare plant and animal species.

Hiking in the Seebachtal valley and around the lakes is a rewarding experience in any season. Starting from Kartause Ittingen, the trail winds its way through meadows and fields, passing farms and the ruins of Helfenberg Castle.

Duration

Allow 3 to 4 hours for the hike.

Tipp

You can halve the walking time by taking the PostBus to and from Lake Constance (stopping at Hüttwilen, Stutheien or Nussbaumen and Tobelbrunnen).
