The two main grape varieties, Pinot Noir for red wine and Müller-Thurgau for white wine, make up a significant part of the range. Other varieties, such as the white wines Seyval Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Johanniter (0.5 ha), and the red wines Maréchal Foch, St. Laurent and Dornfelder, ensure a diverse selection.

Hops for Ittinger Gold and Ittinger Original Amber
Approximately two hectares of hops are cultivated at Kartause Ittingen, specifically the Hallertauer Tradition and Perle varieties. It is these hops that give Ittinger Gold and Ittinger Original Amber their exquisite aroma. Both beers contain only hops from our own hop garden.
Ittinger Original Amber and new Ittinger Gold
The history of Ittinger beer
In 1982, the Kartause Ittingen Foundation collaborated with the Frauenfeld Actienbrauerei brewery to create the 'Original Ittinger Klosterbräu' for internal use. Following the closure of the Frauenfeld brewery and the transfer of production to the Haldengut/Calanda brewery in Winterthur, this popular premium beer began its success story. Following the acquisition of the Haldengut/Calanda brewery, Heineken Switzerland AG now holds the naming rights and recipe. (Contact details: Tel. +41 41 319 11 11 – Email: info@eichhof.ch)
Ittinger Original
Ittinger Original Amber, as it is known today, is brewed in Lucerne at the Eichhof brewery and distributed throughout Switzerland.
This characterful, easy-drinking amber beer, with an original gravity of 13.8% and an ABV of 5.6%, is produced using a blend of light and dark barley malt, wheat malt, and caramel malt, as well as aromatic hops from the Ittingen Charterhouse. It is only through this precise combination of ingredients that the aromatic beer speciality – the unique, bottom-fermented Ittinger – can be produced.
Ittinger Gold – available since spring 2025
Ittinger Gold is a refreshingly mild lager beer with a floral note. It has a hint of honey and lemon balm. It has an alcohol content of 4.9% vol and is brewed in Lucerne at Eichhof and distributed throughout Switzerland.
