Go hiking around the Kartause Ittingen Ittingen.

Kartause Ittingen is in the middle of nature, and there are walks and hikes to enjoy there.
For the Carthusian monks, walking along the cloister to the monastery church was part of everyday life, while the Sunday walk served as a form of recreation. According to the statutes of the Carthusian Order, they felt ‘uplifted and revitalised by the loveliness of the wilderness and the beauty of the countryside’.
The former monastery complex and its surroundings are ideal for walking and hiking. Whether you follow one of the themed trails through the gardens or walk through the Ittingen Forest, vineyards and meadows to the nearby River Thur or Lake Nussbaumersee, the exercise will invigorate your senses and make your visit to Ittingen Charterhouse a holistic experience.
Kartause Ittingen is surrounded by idyllic natural beauty. No matter what the season, a walk here reveals hidden and unexpected treasures. Alongside the Seebachtal valley's renaturation projects, the Ittinger Wald forest and Lake Nussbaumersee form an integral part of the nationally significant landscape between the Thur and Rhine rivers. We have put together a selection of varied walking and hiking routes.
Set off on your journey – there is a route to suit everyone. We hope you enjoy relaxing and memorable experiences of nature and culture.
Maps of the walking and hiking routes are included and also available to purchase from the monastery shop. You can take away the flyer with the hiking trails (Die Gärten der Kartause Ittingen) from the signpost in Kartause Ittingen.
